The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) is pleased to announce that Stephen S. Park, M.D., F.A.C.S. of Charlottesville, Virginia, has been elected President of the organization and will serve the 2014-2015 year term, taking office in October 2014. He is widely recognized as a leader in the field of facial plastic surgery, lecturing nationally and internationally on his surgical techniques and medical philosophy. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Park is also dedicated to academic advancement of the field and serves as the Vice-Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Virginia.
The AAFPRS is the world’s largest specialty association for facial plastic surgery. The organization seeks to educate medical professionals, government and the general public about facial plastic surgery as a specialty that requires intensive training and competence, embodies high ethical standards, artistic ideals, commitment to humanitarian service and a desire to enhance the quality of human life.

Dr. Park is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is a diplomat of the American Board of Otolaryngology. After receiving a BA from Amherst College, he pursued his medical education at the University of Michigan Medical School, residency at Tufts University Medical Center, and fellowship training in Facial Plastic Surgery at the Oregon Health Sciences University.
Dr. Park is renowned for his expertise in facial plastic surgery, with a particular focus on aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Park joined the faculty at the University of Virginia Medical Center in 1994 as the director of the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has been an invited guest professor to many universities around the country and the guest of honor at a number of large, international symposia around the world. He has also been published in numerous medical journals on his work in facial plastic surgery, especially rhinoplasty and nasal reconstruction.
Knowing the importance of giving back, Dr. Park actively participates in the AAFPRS’ FACE TO FACE program, which provides pro-bono cosmetic and reconstructive surgery services to abused women.
Additionally, the AAFPRS is pleased to announce Edwin F. Williams, III, MD, as President Elect for the 2014-2015 term. Currently the Group VP for Public and Regulatory Affairs for the AAFPRS, Dr. Williams is a board certified facial plastic surgeon and founder of Williams Center Plastic Surgery Specialists in Albany, New York. He is a Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. With his active involvement in Continuing Medical Education, Dr. Williams has also qualified for the American Medical Association Physician Recognition Award.
